Res Completa: Neckwarmer Kercheif

I bought some lovely Malabrigo Angora yarn as a souvenir last September when Neill and I went to Washington DC (at least calling it a souvenir was my justification for buying something so obscenely expensive!). After months of staring at it, petting it, and saying things like, "Sooo preeety!!!!" in a baby voice, I finally put it to use:

Pattern: Neckwarmer Thingy, made up by me
Yarn: Malabrigo Angora, about 70 yards of Bobby Blue
Needles: US 8
Start to Finish: March 8, the length of Pride and Prejudice Part III

Notes: To make this little guy, I cast on 84 stitches (~21 inches?) and decreased on both sides every other row (working in stockinette) until I was about to run out of yarn and bound off. The resulting shape was a trapezoid -- I had nowhere near enough yarn to make a real kercheif-y triangle. I then gathered the points in about two inches up by lacing a strand of yarn through and pulling it tight. I then sewed on a snap, thusly:

and voila! Not too exciting, but I wasn't sure what else to do with only 70 yards of angora yarn. The upside is that I get all that softness around my neck, and get to put the gorgeous yarn on display up where people can see it. Look at the pretty color variations!

And tomorrow......a meme!

Beautiful neckwarmer. I think I saw it go by on Ravelry, so I hope I'm not double-commenting... I have been drooling over that handspun angora ever since I saw it at Imagiknit in SF.

That is just so stylish! Very cleverly done and what a great use for the angora.

That is so beautiful! I really like it. Thanks for letting us in on the pattern notes. I think I may have just the yarn for this pretty pattern. :)
